We tested golf’s No. 1 driver – the Callaway Epic – at a local Callaway Epic driver fitting event

By GOLFTEC Digital

When it comes to the hottest golf equipment of 2017, the Callaway Epic driver is enjoying unrivaled success at the top of the golf club pyramid.

So much success, in fact, that it’s taken over the No. 1 spot in driver sales through the first four months of the year. That’s a first for Callaway in a long time.

Of course, this is mainly due to Callaway’s highly-touted “Jailbreak” technology, which positions two (jail) bars strategically behind the clubface to maximize energy transfer for added yards on both center and off-center hits. The Jailbreak design is something brand new in golf, which means other manufacturers are no doubt gleaning what they (legally) can with their own designs to surmise a worthy adversary.

The future aside, however, Ely Callaway’s brainchild continues to bask in the glory of its 2017 perfect storm of intelligent marketing and the performance to back it up.

That said, from a consumer’s standpoint, the true rank of a club comes always down how well it performs with the golfer’s specific game and swing characteristics – no matter how well the club sells or how great the reviews.

So GOLFTEC’s Jon Levy and Dave Pauley recently stopped in to a local Callaway Epic driver fitting event to test the Jailbreak-infused club, and find out for themselves just how much improvement Epic yielded (if any) against their current gamers.

Check out the results of their fitting in the video below, and learn the step-by-step process of a real-life Callaway Epic driver fitting!
