New Skills Challenges aims to test GOLFTEC Students ability from a variety of distances

By Sabrina Naccarato

Our new exciting Skills Challenge provides a unique, fun, and addictive way to test yourself against your own swing improvement goals with real results. The Skills Challenge looks at different metrics including distance and accuracy from a variety of distances and using all the clubs in your bag to measure your improvement and provide a score to benchmark against. Since launching a couple of months ago, over 12,000 Skills Challenges have been taken by GOLFTEC students.

“We’re really excited to be releasing Skills Challenge. Not only is it truly fun for the student, but more importantly, it provides another tool for our Coaches to be able to focus in a student’s instruction and identify opportunities to help people get better faster. You can complete a Skills Challenge in a regular 30-minute golf lesson with your Coach and see where you are in your improvement journey in a completely new, and fun, way.

Nick Clearwater, Vice President of Instruction and a Golf Digest Top 50 Teacher in America.

How does a Skills Challenge work?

Skills Challenge looks at different metrics including distance and accuracy from different stations and using all the clubs in your bag to measure your improvement and provide a score to benchmark against. During each section of the assessment, you’ll take two shots from the four stations/distances trying to get as close to the pin as possible. Your dispersion pattern will provide data for your Coach to analyze and identify areas to work on.

Then your coach can use the information from the Skills Challenge to identify your stronger skillsets as well as some problem areas that might need to be addressed to help your game on the course.

The Skills Challenge goes beyond instruction and focused practice, taking it to the next level with an exciting feature: competition. Golfers love competition, it’s one of the reasons they play this game, and there’s nothing better than bragging rights.

Every shot you take goes into your score. You score points for each station and for the overall challenge. The lower the distance is to the pin, the higher your score.

So, not only are students testing against themselves, they’ll be competing against other students in their Training Center, and in other Centers across the world, via local and global Leaderboards.

Skills Challenge in Action

Social media personality, George Bryan of Bryan Bros Golf, visited GOLFTEC Tyvola to test out the new Skills Challenge himself. Not only was he impressed with the system itself, like the true competitor he is, but his goal was also to hold the top score of GOLFTEC Tyvola. See if George beat the Center average in the video below.

The Skills Challenge is only available to active GOLFTEC Students as a part of their lesson plans and packages. If you’re interested in a Skills Challenge, contact your local GOLFTEC for more information about becoming a GOLFTEC Student.
