Professional golfer and GOLFTEC Ambassador, Jim Knous, recently earned conditional status on the PGA Tour

GOLFTEC congratulates PGA Tour Professional and GOLFTEC Ambassador Jim Knous on his most recent performance at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

Knous recently earned conditional status on the PGA Tour and full status on the Korn Ferry Tour for the 2021-2022 season, thanks to last week’s T-57 finish at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. That finish, combined with his first start of the season, where Knous held a share of the 54-hole lead at the Fortinet Championship before finishing T-11, earned him enough FedEx Cup points for Tour status.

This past week was an incredible test for Knous, who battled on Friday to make the cut, then had to fight back again in his back nine on Sunday to grab the required top-67 finish he needed.

“I just told myself we’re going to do this, so I kept fighting and I’m proud to have done it. I play for my family and to tee it up with them in the back of my mind, I just want to make them proud.”

Knous missed a year of action from June 2019 to June 2020 due to a wrist injury but was able to keep his Tour card due to a Medical Extension. He returned to competition nearly a year later at the Utah Championship but unfortunately missed the cut. He utilized the Kour Ferry Tour circuit to try and get back into the swing of things during the rest of 2020 but ending up missing cuts in four of six starts. He did make find his way back to the PGA Tour at the Safeway Open in September 2020. After that event, Knous had five starts remaining on his Medical Extension.

When 2021 began, Knous had just those five starts to earn 152.643 FedEx Cup points to regain full status and 64.916 FEC points for conditional status. Things were a little stressful for Knous as he missed the cut at his first three events. But after his finish at the Fortinet Championship and the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, his fate was sealed. It really came down to those last two events within the last two months for him to earn conditional PGA Tour status and full status on the Korn Ferry Tour.

A native Coloradan, Knous attended school at Colorado School of Mines and still lives in Littleton, Colorado. Most Tour Pros elect to live in warmer weather climates, but Knous can still get in his practice year-round thanks to the indoor practice facility at the School of Mines, which includes a GOLFTEC hitting bay.

“It’s a huge resource for me to be able to get on the launch monitor and hit a ton of balls. Getting yardages dialed in for each club gives me confidence for when I go out and compete.”

Knous is one of the first PGA Tour Professionals to sign a partnership agreement with GOLFTEC, and the company couldn’t be more excited about it.

“Obviously, with GOLFTEC Headquarters located in Denver and Jim being from Colorado, it’s awesome to be able to partner with a local guy on Tour. We are proud that a player of his caliber uses our technology and can keep practicing right here in Colorado no matter what the weather is like outside. We are excited about this partnership and look forward to Jim’s future success.”
