For the first time in 20 years, a Brit is wearing the Green Jacket from Augusta National
Willett, from Sheffield, U.K., shot a back-nine 33 to post a final-round 67 and win the first major of the season at 5 under par. After a birdie on the 13th, Willett trailed by two shots. But as Jordan Spieth’s day floundered with a whopping 41 on the back nine, Willett quickly found himself in the lead, ahead of playing partner Lee Westwood (69), Dustin Johnson (71), and many others.
For someone who wasn’t even sure he was going to play at Augusta just a week before, the weekend turned out far better than he could’ve ever hoped.
Willett’s full bag of Callaway clubs and golf balls featured a new 19° XR 16 5-wood, among others. Here’s the complete list:
- XR 16 Driver 9° (he averaged 305 yards in the final round and hit 9/14 fairways)
- XR Fairway Wood 15°
- XR Fairway Wood 19°
- Apex Utility 2-iron
- Apex Utility 4-iron
- Apex Pro Irons 5-9
- Mack Daddy 2 Wedges (47°)
- Mack Daddy 2 Tour Grind Wedges (54°, 58°)
- Odyssey Versa #1 Wide Putter (White/Black/White)
- An SR3 Golf Ball
In case you missed it, check out Callaway’s Head of R&D, Dr. Alan Hocknell, discussing the technology in the XR 16 driver that helped propel Willett to his first Major Championship win here.
