Jordan Spieth proves he’s still got game, European Tour ‘Beefs’ up parking space after miscue and more in this week’s edition of The Links

By GolfTEC Digital

Guess who’s back, back again …

Jordan Spieth may not have been able to don a second-straight Green Jacket after his now-famed back-nine collapse in April at the Masters, but he’s got a shiny, new red coat to show off after a three-shot victory (17 under) at the Dean & Deluca Invitational at Colonial. As the world breathed a collective sigh of relief and Under Armour execs rejoiced once again, Golf Channel’s Will Gray reported that it was perhaps because of a single fan’s comment to Spieth as he walked toward the back nine that spurred the Dallas native on to three straight birdies and an easy cruise to victory.

But the best part of his win as far as we’re concerned? “Christmas Slam” now complete.

77th Senior PGA Championship Rocks!

Rocco Mediate posted a 5-under 66 in the final round of the Senior PGA Championship in Benton Harbor, Mich., to roll to a 19-under-par total and three-shot victory over Colin Montgomerie. Good to see Mediate finally get a major under his belt, because, after all, we all can’t forget David nearly beating Goliath at Torrey Pines in 2008 and neither can he.

Back in those days, though, the guy named Tiger was unbeatable. So Rocco, we can’t blame you for clutching that enormous piece of hardware with that solid choke hold grip you’ve got going on there.

Finau-menal Move

PGA Tour player and Dean & Deluca Invitational participant, Tony Finau, unfortunately hit a fan in the head with an errant drive left on Colonial’s 11th hole during Saturday’s third round. But he quickly made up for it by presenting flowers, chocolates and a “get well” card to the young woman shortly after the round.

So, in other words, these guys are good … at giving many husbands a lesson or two on how to do things right.

‘You had one job’

When a guy nicknamed “Beef” — European Tour member, Andrew Johnston — shows up to your flagship event with a misspelled nameplate in his parking spot and the Englishman responds by blowing you up on Instagram, how do make a solid to the man who said all he wanted to do was get “hammered” after his recent win at the Open de Espana?

Way to own it, European Tour …
