As seen on Golf Channel: Finding the center of your driver face, aka the ‘sweet spot,’ can help with your consistency

There’s hardly a more satisfying feeling than nailing a drive right on the sweet spot and watching the ball fly far and straight down the fairway.

Of course, if that were your reality for every tee shot, you’d probably be on the PGA Tour giving Dustin Johnson a run for his money instead of spending money to have enough golf balls to get through a round.

So, OK, maybe we’re not quite Tour-quality material yet. But we’re here to help you find your driver’s sweet spot more often and start hitting better tee shots ASAP.

Your “path” to hitting the sweet spot

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that hitting shots on the center of the driver face helps your ability to hit longer and straighter drives. Also that your inability to do so partners with contact occurring everywhere but the sweet spot.

This is often due to a swing path that is too far “out to in” or too “in to out.” Among other challenges, either can create inconsistencies with where the ball is hit on the face of the club.

So to help encourage a better swing path and increase your chances of hitting the center of the face, we’ve got an easy drill you can integrate into your practice regimen.Finding the driver sweet spot

Illustrated by Patrick Nuber in the video below, simply set up two tees about 2 inches on either side of the ball at address. The goal of the drill is simple: hit shots without the club disturbing the tees as you swing through. That’s it!

You’ll be amazed at how practicing this drill can straighten out your swing path and help you hit the sweet spot of your driver more often in no time.
